The Commissioner of Education in Cross River State Warns of Dismissal for Principals Involved in Unlawful Activities

Senator Stephen Odey, who serves as the Commissioner for Education in Cross River State, has issued a strong statement threatening to terminate the employment of any school principal found engaging in unlawful activities, such as imposing unauthorized fees on pupils or students.

Odey made these remarks during a reception organized to celebrate the award of his second doctorate degree and the launch of his latest book, titled “Oil and Gas Pollution Abatement and Legislation in Nigeria.”

Receiving reports of illicit charges and currently investigating their accuracy, the commissioner emphasized that the educational reforms implemented were a response to the imperative for change.

Reflecting on his approach, Odey remarked, “I do not employ harsh methods, but my strategies are unconventional; gone are the days of operating in the old manner. Change is the only constant in life, and resistance to change signifies underlying issues.”

Additionally, he highlighted that his academic qualifications in philosophy and law would enhance his capacity to fulfill his responsibilities, asserting the importance of advancing educational achievements and fostering diversity.
