Chelsea’s Strategy to Maintain FFP Compliance by Offering Players to Real Madrid

Recent reports hint at Chelsea’s move to transfer Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid, possibly in a bid to stay clear of Financial Fair Play (FFP) infractions.

Following the acquisition by the Todd Boehly-led consortium in 2022, Chelsea has significantly invested in new player signings and extended contracts, raising concerns about a potential breach of FFP regulations.

According to insights from Football365, the west London club in the Premier League is now exploring avenues to generate funds by selling players. There have been speculations linking Conor Gallagher with a potential exit, while Fernandez and Cucurella are reportedly on offer to Real Madrid.

Chelsea acquired Fernandez in January 2023 from Benfica for a hefty sum of £106 million. Since then, he has been a pivotal performer for Chelsea, featuring in 57 matches and netting seven goals.

On the other hand, Cucurella made a switch to Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion for a fee of £60 million back in 2022, but his on-field display has been inconsistent.
