Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr expresses thoughts of walking away from football due to racism in LaLiga

Feeling the weight of racism in LaLiga, Vinicius Junior, the winger for Real Madrid, admits that it has prompted him to contemplate his future in the sport.

Emotions overflowed for Vinicius when questioned about racism just before Brazil’s friendly match against Spain.

The 23-year-old found it tough to conceal his feelings and emphasized the need to stop the “suffering endured by Black individuals.”

Expressing his struggle, Vinicius shared, “All I want is to focus on playing football, but the journey is becoming increasingly challenging… My desire to play diminishes day by day. The thought of leaving Spain has never crossed my mind because doing so would mean succumbing to the desires of racists.”

He continued, “I will remain here because it allows those who perpetrate racism to witness me more frequently. I am a resilient player; proudly representing Real Madrid, we have secured numerous titles, a fact that unsettles many people.”
