The arrest of Sirika by EFCC due to alleged N8bn fraud in Nigeria Air Scandal


Former Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, has been apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with an ongoing money laundering investigation involving N8,069,176,864.00.

Sirika was reported to have arrived at the EFCC’s Federal Capital Territory Command premises around 1pm on Tuesday as reported by Punch.

At present, the ex-Minister is in discussions with EFCC personnel regarding suspected fraudulent contracts granted to a company named Engirios Nigeria Limited, which is owned by his brother, Abubakar Sirika.

Reliable sources within the anti-corruption agency, who chose not to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter, verified the situation to our correspondent on Tuesday.

One source disclosed, “Hadi Sirika is presently in custody at our FCT office, addressing EFCC investigators concerning the alleged N8,069,176,864.00 mismanagement of contracts within the aviation ministry.”

Another source mentioned, “The aviation ministry contract fraud amounting to N8,069,176,864.00 was perpetrated in collaboration with his sibling, Abubakar Sirika, using the latter’s company.
