Christian Association of Nigeria urges Federal Government to designate Miyetti Allah as a terrorist group

On Thursday, January 24, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) called on the federal government to officially recognize the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) as a terrorist organization. CAN's request is based on the organization's alleged involvement in the killings of Christians in certain northern communities. According to CAN, Miyetti Allah shares a comparable agenda with the Boko Haram sect, and it highlighted a series of alleged attacks carried out by members of the Fulani group. Samuel Ortom’s Election as Benue Governor Upheld by Supreme Court

The Governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom, has had his election victory affirmed by the Supreme Court.   Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, leading a panel of seven Justices, dismissed the appeal filed by the APC and its governorship candidate, Emmanuel Jime, citing a lack of merit.   In the March 2019 state governorship supplementary election, Ortom secured 434,473 votes, surpassing Mr Jime, who obtained 345,155 votes.

Law enforcement officers from Anti Kidnapping Unit, Lagos State Police Command have apprehended 26-year-old Ataghar Namdoo, who allegedly orchestrated her own kidnapping.   According to a statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, Bala Elkana, on January 9th, Ataghar supposedly colluded with her boyfriend, Emmanuel Idu, and Okpe David to create a short video showing her blindfolded and transported to a bush in the Sangotedo area of Ajah, a suburb in the state. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the Supreme Court to reverse its ruling on the Imo governorship election. A team of Nigerian doctors has accomplished the successful separation of a set of conjoined twins. The complex surgery to separate Goodness and Mercy Martins at the National Hospital Abuja took 13 hours, involving 78 doctors working in two groups. Goodness and Mercy Martins were delivered on August 13, 2018, in Nasarawa state, through a caesarean section. Their mother, who was not employed, was unaware she was expecting twins, and the news of them being born conjoined at the chest and abdomen was a shock to her.
