System collapse leads to complete blackout in Southeast, EEDC reports

An alert issued by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EEDC) on Monday informed customers of a total system collapse, resulting in a blackout across the Southeast region.

The incident, as stated by Emeka Eze, Head of Corporate Communications at EEDC, happened around 2am on Monday.

EEDC has assured residents of efforts being made to restore normal operations promptly.

In the communication from the company, it was mentioned that, “This incident caused a halt in supply to all our interface TCN stations, affecting our services in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.”

“Progress is being made as we received supplies at Awada TCN station in Onitsha at 7:30am,” the statement continued.

“We remain in constant contact with the necessary authorities, awaiting the complete restoration of supply by the National Control Centre (NCC) in Oshogbo.”
