Successful thwarting of a kidnap attempt by soldiers in Taraba

An incident where Nigerian Army troops engaged in counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in the North East and North Central regions resulted in the prevention of a kidnap attempt, apprehension of cattle rustlers, and elimination of several terrorists.

On Thursday, responding to a distress call, the troops foiled an abduction try on Mr. Musa Arewa by three armed kidnappers in the Lankaviri community of Karim Lamido Local Government Area, Taraba State.

The Army reported that “the kidnappers, after severely torturing their victim, were intercepted by the troops as they tried to sneak him into a nearby bush. The suspects were apprehended, and three locally made guns were seized from them.”

This development was disclosed in an announcement shared on the official Nigerian Army platform on Friday.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its unwavering dedication to upholding peace and security in the regions.

In a joint operation involving hunters and other security entities, the troops carried out a reconnaissance to clear areas infiltrated by terrorists.

The affected areas encompass Garau, Paskere, Tella, Jukun, Farin Ruwa, Mashingi, Jeb Jeb, and Rafin Kada Villages in the Karim Lamido Local Government of Taraba State,” as specified in the statement.

In a separate mission, the troops successfully apprehended a notorious gang specializing in cattle rustling in Plateau State.

Based on credible information, the soldiers conducted a covert operation targeting the terrorist stronghold in Mangu Village, Mangu LG of Plateau State.

The operation led to a fierce confrontation with the terrorists, resulting in their capture and the confiscation of illegal weapons.

The captured suspects, identified as Peter Sale, Enoch Luka, and Hosaana Philibus, are suspected to be key operatives of the cattle rustling syndicate.

Moreover, the troops seized one makeshift rifle, one makeshift pistol, seven rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a motorcycle, and two cellphones from the suspects.
