Successful Operations by Troops Against Boko Haram Extremists


Two separate operations carried out by troops of Sector 1, Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) based in Mora, Cameroon, resulted in the neutralization of three Boko Haram terrorists in the areas of Zigue and Soueram.

Details released by Lt. Col Abubakar Abdullahi, the spokesperson for the joint task force, indicate that the initial confrontation took place in the border community of Zigue in Cameroon on April 15, 2024. An ambush by the MNJTF troops led to the elimination of one terrorist during this operation.

Subsequently, on April 22, 2024, the troops engaged in another early morning encounter near the Cameroon-Nigeria border in Soueram, where they successfully neutralized an additional two Boko Haram terrorists.

During the operations, the troops recovered significant weapons and ammunition including one PKM machine gun, one AK-47 rifle, five magazines, and 20 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

The MNJTF acknowledges the crucial role of local communities in providing support and intelligence that contributed to the success of these missions. Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi emphasized the importance of continued and increased community cooperation to enhance the safety and security of the Lake Chad basin. This joint effort reinforces the determination to eradicate terrorism in the region.
