Insight from Shorunmu on Super Falcons’ Path to Qualification in the ‘Group of Death’ at Paris 2024

According to Ike Shorunmu, a former Super Eagles goalkeeper, the Super Falcons need to bring their A-game to excel at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Randy Waldrum’s squad finds themselves in a challenging group alongside reigning champions Spain, Japan, and Brazil.

Shorunmu emphasizes that only a stellar performance can help the team navigate the tough competition ahead.

“I urge the Falcons to exhibit strength, focus, and resilience during the group stage, as they are up against football giants,” Shorunmu expressed to NAN.

“It is crucial for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the coaching staff to include experienced players,” he added.

“Avoid relying solely on older players for enhanced performance during the group matches.”

After a 16-year hiatus, the Super Falcons are making a comeback to the Olympics.

The team from West Africa is scheduled to clash against Brazil in their inaugural match of the women’s football event on July 25.
