University of Abuja: Academic and Administrative Operations to Continue Amid ASUU Strike

Despite the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the University of Abuja, UniAbuja, has affirmed that academic and administrative activities will proceed on campus.

During a meeting with Provost, Deans, Directors, and Heads of academic departments, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, emphasized this stance.

In a statement released on Friday in Abuja by the Acting Director of Information and University Relations, Dr. Habib Yakoob, the Vice-Chancellor criticized the strike as unnecessary and divisive. He pledged that the university’s management would ensure the institution remains operational.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the university is not officially on strike from the management’s perspective.

He asserted, “Despite claims of a strike by some, the university’s management has collectively agreed that our regular activities at the university will persist.

Examinations will proceed, senate meetings will be conducted, and all other university operations will continue without disruption to our calendar by God’s grace.

We are adamant in our decision not to let these sentimental and resolved issues disrupt the university’s functioning,” he added.

The Vice-Chancellor further refuted the allegations made by the union that prompted their declaration of an indefinite strike.
