Shot dead a democratic congressman and her husband at her home in Minnesota

The Democratic congressman for the state of Minnesota Melissa Hortman and her husband have died after receiving several shots at her home has confirmed the governor of the State, Tim Walz, in what has described as a “murder for political reasons.”

Security forces have so far identified a suspect who He has also shot the democratic state senator John Hoffman and his wifer. Both are injured and have undergone an emergency intervention. His prognosis is reserved, but “optimistic, caution,” explained the governor.

“We are here because there has been an indescribable tragedy in Minnesota,” Walz said in the press conference. “My good friend, a new colleague, President Melissa, and her husband Mark, have been shot dead this morning in what seems to be a murder for political reasons,” he said.

“Our state has lost a great leader and I have lost a friend for years. President Hortman was someone who served the people of Minnesota with elegance, compassion, humor and sense of service. She was a formidable public official, an outstanding figure and a giant in Minnesota, woke up every day determined to make this state a better place. It is irreplaceable,” he added.

Walz has also had words for state senator John Hoffman and his wife, “who received multiple shots. The Hoffman have left the operating room and are receiving medical attention, and we are cautiously optimistic that they will survive this murder attempt.”

Trump: “This type of violence will not be tolerated”

For his part, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, has condemned what happened and has assured that “this type of horrible violence will not be tolerated in the United States.”

“I have been informed about the terrible shooting that took place in Minesota, which seems to be an attack directed against state legislators (…). This type of horrible violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America,” said the president in a statement.

Trump has pointed out that the country’s attorney general, Pam Bondi, and the FBI are investigating the case, and has assured that “all those involved with the entire weight of the law will be processed.”
