TV host, Shade Ladipo, delivered a harsh criticism of media personality Toke Makinwa following her statement discouraging the filming of acts of benevolence.
Toke Makinwa had expressed her opinion on Twitter, advising against filming the beneficiaries of one’s charitable actions, and suggesting the blur of their faces for privacy protection.
In an appeal, not intended as criticism or call-out, I commend those contributing to the less privileged in this season. Your kindness will be rewarded by God. However, can we refrain from filming the recipients of your benevolence? You may record your kind acts for personal, archival, or documentary purposes, etc., but please blur the faces of the beneficiaries as they did not consent to being recorded and their dignity should be protected.
Shade Ladipo, in response to Toke Makinwa’s tweets, accused her of recording the act of giving her Personal Assistant a car in the past year. She argued that documenting acts of kindness ultimately does more good than harm and noted that Toke’s similar act of kindness in 2019 led her to buy a laptop for her PA.
