52-year-old habitual rapist arrested in Lagos

The arrest of a 52-year-old habitual rapist in Lagos has been announced by the Lagos state police command. The suspect, identified as Dako Aaron, is a security guard residing at Olanrewaju Street within Okokomaiko. He was apprehended for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl. Bala Elkana, spokesperson for the state police command, disclosed this information on Sunday, April 5.

According to the statement released by Bala, the suspect reportedly dragged the victim into his security post on two separate occasions, on February 2nd and March 13th. The victim received medical treatment and underwent forensic examination. The police spokesperson also highlighted that the suspect has a history of similar offenses, as he was previously charged for raping a minor in 2017.

The authorities intend to bring the suspect to court and have urged parents to remain vigilant against potential threats to their children, particularly during the lockdown period. In a related incident, another suspected paedophile, Christian Chikezie, was arrested for allegedly raping a 9-year-old girl in Ikorodu. The survivor received medical attention and forensic examination, and the suspect is currently under investigation.

The statement included a report from a woman who discovered her daughter had been in the care of a woman named Mercy and had reportedly been sexually assaulted by Christian Chikezie. Detectives from the Juvenile Welfare Centre at Ikorodu Police Station conducted the arrest and transferred the suspect to the Gender Unit at Command Headquarters in Ikeja for further investigation and prosecution.
