Sad News: Chairman of Polytechnic Governing Council Passes Away, Unions Mourn

The late Professor Abiodun Adebowale Ojo, who served as the chairman of the governing council at Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic in Eruwa, Oyo State, has sadly passed away. His demise occurred on Tuesday, as reported by reliable sources.

Prof. Ojo, a distinguished academic in the field of Educational Evaluation, also held the esteemed position of pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Specialised and Professional Education at Emmanuel Alayande University of Education in Oyo, during his sabbatical.

Notably, he was the elder sibling of Mr. Ademola Ojo, a commissioner in the state. The news of his passing has deeply affected the three main unions at the institution: the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnic (SSANIP), and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU).

In a joint statement signed by Engineer Adeboje Taiwo Bode (ASUP Chairman), Mr. Titiloye Joseph (SSANIP Chairman), and Mr. Jayeola Titus (NASU Chairman), the unions expressed their sorrow at the loss of Prof. Ojo. They praised his role as a unifying figure and a mediator within the institution.

The statement, released to NewsNow, read, “The realization of your untimely departure hit us hard, and we are deeply grieved. Your absence is profoundly felt, and we speak of you in past tense with heavy hearts.

“You were a catalyst for unity and peace. Your steadfast commitment and forward-thinking leadership at the institution set a noteworthy example.

“Your transition to a better place leaves a void in the hearts of the unions with whom you collaborated closely. Your legacy of promoting harmony within the Polytechnic community will always be cherished. May God grant us, and your family, the strength to endure this immense loss.”
