Bus carrying 18 passengers crashes in Taraba, resulting in multiple injuries

Reports indicate that a Kakara Transport Nig. Ltd. bus, with a capacity of 18 seats, was involved in an accident within Gashaka Local Government Council of Taraba State.

The incident occurred shortly after passing the old bridge, a short distance from Serti, the administrative headquarters of Gashaka Council, and led to several passengers sustaining injuries of varying severity.

Allegedly, the driver of the 18-seat bus, en route from Gembu to Jalingo, lost control after the rear tires experienced a sudden burst.

Witnesses interviewed by NewsNow pointed to potential overloading as the cause of the accident.

As per one witness, the bursting of the two rear tires was attributed to the bus being overloaded.

The bus overturned three times before coming to a halt following a collision with a dry wooden object.

While there were no fatalities, numerous passengers suffered injuries such as fractures and internal wounds.

A spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed knowledge of the accident but stated that the full extent of the damage was yet to be determined.

Eye-witnesses reported that some of the injured passengers received prompt medical attention at a nearby hospital and were said to be showing signs of improvement at the time of reporting.
