Recent Military Operations: 192 Terrorists Eliminated, 341 Arrested, and 62 Hostages Rescued, Reports DHQ


According to the Defence Headquarters, over the past week, a total of 192 terrorists have been neutralized by the troops, while 341 others have been apprehended. Additionally, 62 kidnapped hostages have been successfully rescued.

The DHQ also stated that 122 ISWAP/JAS terrorists surrendered along with their families during this period.

Providing an update to journalists in Abuja, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, shared that the Armed Forces of Nigeria have been actively engaged in operations nationwide.

Among the achievements highlighted, Buba mentioned that the troops managed to recover 211 assorted weapons and 6,288 assorted ammunition within the week.

The retrieved items include 128 AK47 rifles, 26 dane guns, 1,301 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 3,260 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 1,325 live cartridges, 140 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and other miscellaneous items.

In the North East region, Operation Hadin Kai forces neutralized 71 terrorists, arrested 143 suspects, and rescued 58 kidnapped hostages over the course of the week.

Buba also mentioned air strikes carried out by the air component on ISWAP/JAS terrorist hideouts and logistics hubs, including their food processing facility in Kolleram village near Lake Chad.

Moving to the North Central area, troops from Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke eliminated 29 insurgents, arrested 53 violent extremists, and rescued eight kidnapped hostages.

Meanwhile, in the North West region, Operation Hadarin Daji forces neutralized 62 terrorists, captured 49 militants, and successfully rescued 36 kidnapped hostages.

Furthermore, troops of Operation Whirl Punch arrested 14 criminals and recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, and military equipment.

Down in the South-South, Operation Delta Safe troops continued their efforts against crude oil theft, leading to the recovery of 792,660 liters of stolen crude oil and 117,070 liters of illegally refined AGO.

The troops also discovered and dismantled 31 illegal refining sites, along with 99 dugout pits, 11 boats, 29 storage tanks, 192 cooking ovens, and nine vehicles.

According to the report, 27 suspected oil thieves and other violent extremists were detained by the troops, with the recovery of five weapons and 162 assorted ammunition.

Shifting focus to the South-East, the Operation UDOKA troops neutralized nine terrorists, arrested 11 violent extremists, rescued 17 kidnapped hostages, and successfully recovered weapons in the region.
