Public Holiday Declared by FG for Workers Day on May 1st

May 1, 2024, has been declared a public holiday by the Federal Government to mark the Workers’ Day celebration for this year.

On behalf of the Federal Government, the declaration was made by Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, emphasizing the importance of excellence, efficiency, and equity across all labor sectors.

The administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to promoting a workplace culture of innovation, productivity, and inclusivity, as reiterated by Ojo.

Addressing this year’s theme that emphasizes ensuring safety and health in a changing climate, the minister highlighted the government’s firm dedication to prioritizing the safety and well-being of all citizens.

He reassured that the government will continue to create a conducive working environment where every worker can flourish and make meaningful contributions to national development.

In recognizing workers’ contributions, proactive measures are encouraged to counter the detrimental impacts of climate change through collaborative efforts in applying sustainable practices and policies that enhance well-being at work and in nation-building based on the values of integrity, diligence, and compassion.

The Minister also called upon Nigerians to uphold the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration and extended best wishes to workers for a joyous celebration.
