NANS Calls on Tinubu to Remove Adelabu and Kyari Immediately or Face Nationwide Protests

Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) and the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, have been urged for removal by the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS.

NANS is deeply concerned about the challenges faced by Nigerians due to issues such as inconsistent electricity supply, high tariffs, and the ongoing fuel crisis.

A nationwide protest is scheduled by NANS on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, and the organization has called for the support of all Nigerians.

In a joint statement endorsed by Senator Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, the Senate President, NANS Headquarters, and the heads of its 5 regions expressed concerns that the leadership of Kyari and Adelabu has contributed to the mismanagement of crucial energy resources, worsening the nation’s current turmoil, as observed by many Nigerians.

To amplify their message and encourage broad participation, the protest is strategically organized to occur in various zones across the country. Each zone will hold demonstrations at designated locations to increase visibility and impact.

Zone A: Abuja Junction along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway. Zone C: Airport Road in Abuja. Zone D: along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Zone F: along Onitsha-Asaba Head Bridge and Zone E: along the Wuntin Dada-Bauchi-Jos Road.

The essential removal of Mele Kyari and Honourable Adelabu is firmly believed to be necessary to address the root causes of fuel scarcity and the electricity crisis.

Accountability, transparency, and decisive action are demanded from the government to alleviate the struggle of Nigerian students.
