Petroleum Marketers: NNPCL Takes Steps to Resolve Fuel Scarcity Issue in Nigeria

In a recent development, petroleum marketers have announced that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has initiated the opening of its reserves nationwide with the aim of putting an end to the prevailing fuel scarcity crisis.

Following a meeting with NNPCL, the National President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Hammed Fashola, and the representative from the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria, Billy Hilly-Harry, released separate statements disclosing this crucial step.

Fashola mentioned that member representatives will convene on Monday to collaborate with NNPCL in resolving the fuel scarcity issue, emphasizing that there is no need for consumers to resort to panic buying as the product will soon be readily available nationwide.

He highlighted, “Our upcoming meeting on Monday with the National Executive Council is to further strengthen our partnership with NNPC in addressing this challenge.”

Hilly-Harry also echoed similar sentiments, stating that the efforts made in the recent meetings have already shown positive results, with queues gradually reducing in Abuja over the weekend.

He expressed optimism about the ongoing collaboration between NNPCL and marketers, saying, “The proactive measures taken by NNPCL combined with our concerted efforts will lead to a significant improvement in the situation.”

He noted, “The tangible impact of this joint initiative is already visible in Abuja as the queue situation is gradually improving.”

Despite weeks of persistent fuel scarcity, NNPC’s recent actions give hope for a sustainable solution to the crisis.
