Paul Offor’s Farewell Letter to Sporting Lagos Post Termination

A touching message was shared by the former head coach of Sporting Lagos, Paul Offor, following his recent dismissal from the club.

Offor’s tenure with Sporting Lagos came to an end on Wednesday night amidst a turbulent debut season in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.

He successfully guided the club to promotion to the top-flight league from the Nigeria National League, NNL, within a year of its establishment.

Initially struggling near the relegation zone, Sporting Lagos saw an upturn in performance during the latter part of the season.

The team’s final game under Offor’s leadership was a 1-0 victory over Sunshine Stars on Tuesday.

In his heartfelt message, Offor expressed gratitude to the players, management, and all those who contributed to his 15-month tenure at the club.

Reflecting on his time at the club, Offor conveyed, “Having spent 15 months together, I deliberated on the most heartfelt way to bid farewell to the extraordinary Sporting Lagos family. From my very first day, this club felt like home to me. I am indebted to the players and staff who welcomed me with open arms.”

He continued, “A special mention to all the players who journeyed with me from the national league to the NPFL. Together, we achieved greatness!”

Offor extended his appreciation to individuals such as Mr. Godwin Enakhena, Coach Paul Aigbogun, Ayobami Animasahun, Yemisi Cole, and Nneoma Ukandu for their unwavering support.

Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude to the Sporting Lagos media team, headed by David Odunlami, emphasizing their crucial role.

He added, “We reinstated Premier League football in Lagos. Lagos became our stronghold. Thank you for the unwavering support, you were our 12th player. I will forever cherish this. You have my love.”

In a token of appreciation to the devoted Sporting Lagos fans, Offor acknowledged their continuous encouragement and passionate support.

He recognized Shola Akinlade, Ekene Agu, and Fola Olatunji-David for their trust and belief in him, highlighting the responsibility that came with overseeing a club like Sporting Lagos.

Lastly, Offor expressed his gratitude to numerous others within the club, including Mr. Vincent Enakhena, John Olowookere, Mr. Sunday from Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, and Mr. Ola from Legacy Pitch, for their invaluable assistance and dedication.
