Singer R. Kelly's plea for release from prison due to the COVID-19 pandemic has been rejected.
Kelly's lawyers sought home confinement for him at the Roosevelt Collections Loft apartment complex in Chicago, citing the prison's new restrictions amid the pandemic, which they claimed made it difficult to prepare for trial and meet with Kelly.
Legal documents obtained by TMZ on Tuesday revealed that a judge in Chicago dismissed the motion, deeming the 53-year-old R&B singer a flight risk.
The judge stated: "[Kelly] is currently in custody because of the risks that he will flee or attempt to obstruct, threaten or intimidate prospective witnesses. The defendant has not explained how those risks have changed."
