Oyo college denies any Yoruba Nation agitator arrest among lecturers

In response to claims that lecturers from the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo State were among the suspected Yoruba Nation agitators, the college’s management issued a statement denying any association.

Last Saturday, a group of masked individuals armed with weapons stormed the state Government Secretariat at Agodi in Ibadan, resulting in the arrest of 21 individuals by joint security personnel assigned to maintain peace.

Alabi Ogundeji, one of the arrested agitators, identified himself as a lecturer at the college while speaking to media representatives during their presentation at the state police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan on Monday.

However, the college’s Registrar, J.A Araoye, refuted this claim, stating that no lecturer by the name of Alabi Ogundeji is listed on the college staff.

Araoye emphasized, “The college confirms that there is no individual named Alabi Ogundeji on the staff roster. The name ‘Alabi Ogundeji’ is unknown to the college, and no one by that name has ever been hired or had any form of employment with the institution.”

“The Nigeria Police, as well as all other security agencies and the public at large, are urged to take note of this clarification.”
