Over 5,700 students apply for Kogi bursary awards within two days

Within just 48 hours of the Kogi State Government launching a portal for the disbursement of bursary awards to tertiary institution students, more than 5,700 applications have already been received.

The initiative, named “Ododo Students Support 2024,” is a part of Governor Usman Ododo’s initiatives to alleviate the challenges faced by students.

During the portal’s unveiling in Lokoja on Monday, Kogi State’s Commissioner of Education, Wemi Jones, emphasized that reintroducing bursary awards was to assist students in realizing their aspirations.

The commissioner stated, “Since the portal’s inception, over 5,700 applications have been submitted.”

“The scholarship forms a crucial component of the ten-year Kogi State Development Plan,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Scholarship Board, Mr. Afolabi Joseph Raji, clarified that the bursary is exclusively for students originating from Kogi in tertiary institutions nationwide.

He stressed that students can apply through www.scholarshipboard.kogistate.gov.ng using even their smartphones.

Assuring transparency, he confirmed that the registration deadline is April 30th.

Jeremiah Elukpo, the President of the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), encouraged Kogi students to seize the opportunity for the bursary, highlighting the good intentions of the state government towards them.
