NSCDC in Osun Arrests Fake Doctor Collecting 5,000 Naira to Train Apprentices

An individual named Oladiti Saheed Toyin, aged 32, was apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State for impersonation.

The Osun NSCDC Commandant, Michael Adaralewa, disclosed in a statement issued by the Command spokesperson, Adeleke Kehinde, that Toyin, residing at No 2, Lakewu area, Ororuwo, Boripe Local Government Area of the state, was falsely portraying himself as a medical doctor.

Adaralewa further mentioned that Toyin allegedly provided medical care to a pregnant woman during childbirth, resulting in her unfortunate demise.

Despite only holding a Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) as his highest qualification, the suspect had been running an unlicensed clinic for over six years and two months. He was also found to be training individuals as medical staff in his clinic.

Toyin confessed that on April 15, 2024, a pregnant woman in her 9th month and 3rd week visited his hospital, Oloruntoyin Clinic, seeking care due to a conflict with her husband. He claimed to have diagnosed her with low blood pressure, prescribed medication, and instructed her to return when she went into labor.

Tragically, on April 18, 2024, the woman delivered a baby at Toyin’s clinic but encountered complications soon after. She was rushed to a licensed hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

After a thorough investigation, it was uncovered that the suspect was also training individuals to become unqualified medical practitioners, charging them 5,000 Naira for the program.

Adaralewa emphasized that the suspect had contravened Section 343 (1e) of the Criminal Code Act, which prohibits endangering human life by providing unauthorized medical treatment.

The Commandant reassured the public that the suspect would face legal repercussions once the investigation concludes.

He urged the public to be cautious of the medical facilities they patronize and report suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.
