The apprehension of 2 suspected electricity cable vandals in Katsina by NSCDC


Two individuals believed to be involved in electricity cable vandalism have been captured by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Katsina State.

On Friday in Katsina, the command’s spokesman, Buhari Hamisu, announced the arrest of these suspects, crediting the achievement to the strengthened collaboration between NSCDC and the local community.

Aminu Sani, 19, and Ahmed Abdullahi, 23, were apprehended by the command, illustrating the efficacy of this mutual effort.

It was revealed that one of the suspects, Sani, was affiliated with a group known for unlawfully destroying public infrastructure and engaging in theft.

NSCDC’s investigation led to the suspects admitting their involvement in the criminal activities.

During the interrogation, they confessed that Sani, along with an accomplice named Tasiu (also known as Dantasi), vandalized electric cables and fixtures at Federal Housing Estate, Gidan Kwakwa Area, Katsina, on April 6.

Further inquiries disclosed that they had previously damaged and stolen electric service wires from the same housing estate, selling them to Abdullahi and another suspect named Samaila Abdullahi (also known as Tubali), who is currently on the run.

The suspects were found with a pair of pliers, a water tap, two rolls of service wire, and a circuit breaker.

After the investigations are concluded, the suspects will face prosecution in court, as confirmed by the spokesperson.

The commandant urged the citizens of the state to adhere to the law and regulations, guaranteeing the command’s dedication to ensuring security.

NSCDC remains steadfast in its mission to expose the operations of vandals, economic saboteurs, and other criminal elements within the state.
