Adeleke Initiates Logo Competition in Response to Criticism of New Osun Logo

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has instructed a competition for crafting a new logo.

Entries are open for submission from April 19 to 26.

The decision follows backlash from opposition parties and the public regarding the recently unveiled Osun State logo by the government.

On a recent occasion, Governor Adeleke endorsed a bill introducing the new state logo.

Adeleke emphasized that the new emblem signifies a fresh beginning for the state.

In July 2023, the Osun State House of Assembly revoked the State Anthem, Crest and Flag Law 2012, replacing it with a law that authorized the government’s executive branch to create a new logo for the state.

The governor announced that more entries would be accepted for the logo competition.

According to a statement by Olawale Rasheed, the governor’s spokesperson, “As a responsive leader, I’ve decided to broaden the scope of public input for the logo change through a one-week competition.”

Design submissions must adhere to the existing prototype logo in terms of content and style.

Entries can be submitted in person, either in digital or print form, at the Office of the Commissioner, Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment.

The winning design will be announced on April 28 and revealed on April 30 during the upcoming edition of Ipade Imole.

The top three designers will be recognized and rewarded for their efforts.

The Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) criticized the new logo, asserting that it did not meet the standard expected of a state emblem.

Similarly, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) labeled the new logo as a misuse of public funds.

The Osun State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) also expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the new logo did not meet the required criteria.
