Marta García Aller analyzes the "fashionable joint" which has become the right side of history: "It has become a useless expression"

Marta García Aller expresses her doubts about Marco Rubio's visit to Europe: "Reconciliation or manipulation?"

How busy is the right side of history. It is the trendy joint, the place where everyone wants to be. The bad thing is that the right of admission is not very clear. There is a strange mix left on the supposedly right side of history. It is not the same to be the place from which the genocide in Gaza is condemned as from the place from which China is legitimized to invade Taiwan.

Note that the last one to distribute cards from the correct side of history is Xi Jinping to Pedro Sánchez, thank goodness it wasn’t the other way around. Because, let’s see, if the boss of the largest dictatorship in the world is on the right side of history, in which there is no freedom of expression or political plurality or respect for human rights, well, what will the wrong side of history be like then?

After receiving Sánchez, Xi has been with Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister. Lavrov is the one who said that Russia did not invade Ukraine, but was denazifying it, the one who denies the Bucha massacre, the one who said that Hitler had Jewish blood. The Russian boasted tonight in Beijing that both China and Russia play “a stabilizing role in world affairs.” Stabilizer? Russia? I don’t know if for Xi, Lavrov is also on the right side, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

President Sánchez said a few weeks ago that Spain is on the right side of history for opposing the war in Iran. No political leader ever claims to live on the wrong side of history. It’s like common sense, everyone suspiciously attributes it to themselves.

What better sign of how empty of meaning it is. Let’s admit it. It has become a useless, worn-out and misleading expression. Like any expression that gives the idea that those who do not think like us are wrong, poor things, they live in error because they are evil or ignorant. Except us, which is already a coincidence.

Moral?
