Man Arrested for Stealing 23 Cows in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command announced the arrest of a 23-year-old man, identified as Adamu Maikudi, for the theft of 23 cows in Golombi village, located in the Shongom Local Government Area of the state.

Maikudi, a resident of Mai Rana village within the Billiri Local Government Area, was taken into custody by the police in connection with the stolen cows, while the two other accomplices involved in the crime are still on the run.

As per the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mahid Muazu Abubakar, Maikudi was responsible for selling the 23 cows that belonged to Anchau Maishanu.

Mahid disclosed that Maishanu had filed a report at the Pero Chonge Divisional Police headquarters, alleging that Maikudi and two other individuals colluded to steal his cows from Golombi village and subsequently dispose of them.

Detailing the situation, Mahid shared, “Following Maishanu’s report at Pero Chonge Divisional Police headquarters, it was revealed that three suspects, including Maikudi, conspired together to execute the theft of his 23 cows from Golombi village and later traded them off.”

Elaborating further, Mahid mentioned, “Subsequent to the report, an investigation was launched which led to the arrest of Maikudi and the recovery of all the stolen cattle along with other evidence.”
