Lagos state government withdraws charges against Naira Marley, Gbadamosi

The Lagos state government has decided to drop the charges against Naira Marley and Babatunde Gbadamosi. Both men, along with Gbadamosi’s wife, were brought before a Magistrate court in Ogba for violating social distancing regulations. Following their arraignment, one of the defense attorneys, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), informed the media that the government opted to withdraw the charges after the singer and the politician agreed to apologize to President Muhammadu Buhari and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for disregarding the stay-at-home directive. The trio was detained for attending a house party at the residence of actress Funke Akindele-Bello and her husband in Amen estate on April 5th. Funke and her husband were also prosecuted on April 6th and sentenced to 14 days of community service, in addition to a fine of N100,000 each.
