UK Labour party expels Mayor for saying 'Boris Johnson deserves' to be sick with Coronavirus

The Mayor of Heanor, Sheila Oakes, has been expelled from the Labour party for making controversial remarks about UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s health. The Prime Minister was hospitalized and put on Oxygen due to Coronavirus. Oakes, who is a Labour district councillor, made the insensitive comment on Facebook, stating that Boris Johnson deserved to be sick, and referred to him as one of the worst Prime Ministers. Following the outrage over her post, Labour leader Chris Emmas-Williams stated that the party had withdrawn Oakes from the party. He expressed disappointment and emphasized that there is no place in politics for such hurtful comments, and mentioned that a full investigation will take place. Oakes currently does not sit as a Labour councillor. The Labour party wishes the Prime Minister and all those affected by the disease a speedy recovery and sends love and solidarity to them and their families. They have stated that it would be inappropriate to comment further until due process has been completed.
