Crackdown on Illegal Estates by the Lagos State Government

Illegal estate developments around the Epe corridor of Lagos State are facing crackdown by the state government.

A statement from the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Oluyinka Olumide, disclosed this over the weekend in Lagos.

Olumide, leading a special joint operation to the area as directed by the state executive council, covered various locations such as Alaro City, Okorisan, Igbodu, Molajoye, Shaala, Ketu, and Epe.

Notices were served to estate developments including Patriot Bay Estate, Smart City Estate, the Legend, and Hilton Royal Garden, among others like Greenland Estate, Legacy City, Isinmi Lagos, Dominion City, Topview Estate, and Ibi Alafia.

It was emphasized that developers must secure proper approvals like layout approval, planning permit, and fencing permit before commencing any estate development.

Only through adhering to these requirements can an organized, livable, and sustainable built environment be ensured, as highlighted by the commissioner.

Layout approval facilitates the appropriate arrangement of estates to accommodate necessary services and infrastructure, while the planning permit focuses on meeting planning regulations for individual plots within the estate.

Property investors are advised to exercise caution and avoid investing in estates without official approval to steer clear of potential inconveniences with government authorities.
