Israel’s Response to Iran’s Strikes

Herzi Halevi, the chief of Israel’s armed forces, has made it clear that there will be a response to Iran’s recent attack on the country. Despite calls for restraint from world leaders, Israel remains steadfast in its commitment to addressing the situation.

Amid a six-month conflict between Israel and Hamas, backed by Iran, tensions have escalated further as Iran’s allies launched attacks on Israel and its supporters, citing solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

Even before Iran carried out its unprecedented assault on Israeli territory by launching missiles and drones in retaliation for an earlier strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, tensions were already running high.

The Israeli army, with assistance from the United States and other allies, managed to intercept a significant number of the weapons, resulting in minimal damage from the attack.

While Western nations, including those supporting Israel, have advised against further escalation, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a meeting with his war cabinet to discuss the next course of action, as reported by Israeli media.

In a recent call with his Chinese counterpart, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian expressed Iran’s willingness to show restraint and emphasized that they do not seek to escalate tensions any further unless provoked.
