Israel’s Response to Iran’s Attack Should Consider the US Position, According to Raz Zimmit


A research fellow, Raz Zimmit, at Israel’s Institute for National Security Studies specializing in Iran, has outlined the key factors Israel must take into account before retaliating against Iran’s recent attack.

In retaliation for the Israeli strike on its consulate building in Syria on April 1, Iran launched over 300 missiles and drones towards Israel last Saturday night.

The Israeli attack led to the death of seven Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military advisors.

As tensions escalate in the region regarding a potential Israeli response, Zimmit emphasizes three crucial considerations Israel must assess before initiating any action.

“Firstly, Israel must anticipate Iran’s response as Iran has explicitly stated that any Israeli retaliation will be met with an even more severe reaction,” Zimmit mentioned, as reported by The Guardian UK.

“Secondly, the stance of the US. President Biden aims to avoid escalation and seeks to bring an end to this cycle of conflict.”

“Lastly, since October 7, Israel has been striving to prevent the opening of new battlefronts to concentrate on combatting Hamas in Gaza.
