Investigation Launched into Report of 2 Siblings Allegedly Electrocuted in Lagos


In Lagos, an inquiry has been initiated by the Lagos State Police Command following reports of a boy’s death on Abeokuta Street in the Ebute Metta locality of Lagos on Monday.

The boy, aged 12, and his 10-year-old brother, who is currently hospitalized, are believed to have suffered from electrocution.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, affirmed the occurrence to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday without disclosing the boys’ identities, mentioning only that they are siblings.

He explained that a distress call was received by the Denton Police Division in Ebute Metta at approximately 8.58 am on the mentioned day about two motionless boys found on the street.

Upon receiving the report, the station’s anti-crime team promptly proceeded to the site and discovered the bodies amidst a crowd of spectators.

Subsequently, the victims were hurried to Ebute-Metta General Hospital and later moved to Lagos State General Hospital on Lagos Island. A doctor at the hospital pronounced the 12-year-old deceased, while the 10-year-old was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

Hundeyin pointed out that investigations are currently ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the case.
