Horror in Otukpo, Benue: Man Lynched by Mob Over Missing TV Set

Reports have surfaced detailing the tragic lynching of a young man named Okibe Otsapa by an enraged mob in Otukpo, Benue State. The incident stems from allegations of Otsapa being involved in the theft of a television set from a local beer joint.

A petition addressed to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, pinned the blame on a certain Mr. Owoicho George Adama, also known as Owie Banker, for his purported role in Otsapa’s murder.

The petition recounted the events leading to the tragedy, claiming that Owie Banker, the accused, utilized a so-called “magical bible” to identify Otsapa as the culprit behind the missing TV set. This led to a violent confrontation at the beer joint, where Otsapa was fatally assaulted by Owie Banker and his accomplices.

The petition further alleges that Owie Banker has been recklessly boasting about the incident, confidently asserting his connections to influential politicians in Benue State as his shield against any legal repercussions.

In response to the heinous crime, Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District and serving as the Senate Minority Leader, denounced the act of vigilante justice. He urged the community to refrain from taking matters into their own hands and instead cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure justice is served.

Expressing condolences to the victim’s family and friends, Senator Moro emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to hold the perpetrators accountable.
