A tragic incident has struck Abubor Nnewichi community in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, leaving residents in shock as a mother and her four children lost their lives due to suspected food poisoning.
The deceased individuals, named Onyinye (the mother) and her children – Miracle, Dominion, Amanda, and Kosi, tragically passed away after consuming their dinner on Monday.
The exact cause of this devastating poisoning has yet to be determined at this time.
Upon his return home to discover his family members lifeless, the husband and father of the victims, who was not present during the incident, was rushed to the hospital after experiencing a state of shock.
Fortunately, two other siblings, a boy and a girl, were spared from this tragedy as they were not residing with their parents in Nnewi.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra State Police spokesman, has confirmed the occurrence of this heartbreaking event and assured that investigations are currently underway.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been taken to the morgue for further examination through an autopsy.
“This is a case of sudden and unnatural death that has been reported to the police command,” Ikenga stated.
