The Anambra State Police Command successfully prevented a planned attack on the Police Divisional Headquarters in Nneni, Anaocha Local Government Area.

Early on Thursday, unidentified assailants targeted the police station, throwing explosive devices that caused damage to part of the building.

According to a resident in the area, the attackers tried to free some inmates at the facility but were thwarted by the on-duty police officers.

Confirming the incident, the state police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that no casualties were reported, and the attackers were repelled.

“In Nneni, there were no fatalities, no officers taken hostage, and no weapons stolen. The perpetrators threw improvised explosive devices into the police facility, causing damage to the building,” Ikenga remarked.

He added, “Our officers bravely defended against the assailants, forcing them to flee. Operations are ongoing, and any new developments will be communicated promptly,” Ikenga assured.
