Guardiola’s reaction to defeats of Arsenal and Liverpool in EPL

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, remains grounded despite the unexpected losses suffered by title contenders Arsenal and Liverpool over the weekend.

City dominated Luton Town with a 5-1 victory, while Liverpool fell 1-0 to Crystal Palace at Anfield and Aston Villa defeated Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates.

These results propelled the reigning champions to a two-point lead at the summit of the standings.

Guardiola’s squad is focused on replicating their Treble triumph this season, with a crucial second leg encounter against Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, currently deadlocked at 3-3.

Following that, they will face Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final.

Speaking to the media, Guardiola said, “It’s only when we reach the FA Cup final and a few more games, including the Champions League final, that I will begin to ponder on this situation.

“However, let’s acknowledge Chelsea’s strength and consider the narrow point gap in the title race with just six games remaining.

“I remember when we were trailing by a few points, I emphasized the importance of focusing on our own performances. The sentiment remains unchanged now.”
