Grandmother in Lagos arrested for locking up 3 infants, Police intervene

On Thursday, in the Agodo-Egbe, Ikotun area of Lagos State, the Lagos State Police Command successfully rescued three infants who were found locked in a room by their grandmother.

The grandmother, identified as Fatimo Ganiyu, was apprehended by the police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.

The children, a girl and two boys aged between two and four years old, were discovered in a malnourished state, dressed only in diapers at the time of their rescue. The motive behind the grandmother’s actions remains undisclosed.

According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the information about the children being locked up reached the Ikotun Division around 4:00 pm. The Divisional Police Officer promptly led a team of anti-crime detectives to the location to rescue the children, who seemed malnourished and in poor health.

Following the rescue, the suspect, Fatimo Ganiyu, was taken into custody, while the infants were transferred for necessary medical treatment and care. The police have assured that an investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.
