Graeme Souness Opposes Man Utd’s Signings of Casemiro and Raphael Varane

Manchester United’s recent acquisitions of Casemiro and Raphael Varane have come under criticism from Liverpool legend Graeme Souness.

In Souness’ view, Casemiro’s struggle to adapt to the pace of the Premier League and Varane’s frequent injuries reflect poor decisions by the Red Devils’ management.

Despite Varane’s impressive career record, his time at Old Trafford has been marred by injuries, while Casemiro’s performance has waned since his promising debut season.

Souness raises doubts about the wisdom of United’s significant investments in players who have failed to make the anticipated impact.

Speaking on the William Hills’ Three Up Front podcast, Souness shared his thoughts, stating (as reported by Manchester Evening News):

“Casemiro can showcase his medals, but he was more of a supporting player in a standout team. I never envisioned him coming to United and becoming a game-changer.”

“To me, he was just ‘alright’, not a standout player. I believe United may have been deceived by both Raphael Varane and him. If you have something valuable to offer, Real Madrid doesn’t let you go.”
