Four men apprehended by police for murdering Osun woman in money ritual scheme

Four suspects have been taken into custody by Osun State Police Command for their alleged involvement in the death of a 45-year-old woman in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The arrest of the suspects was made known by the command’s spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, during a presentation of the suspects in Osogbo on Friday, following a report of a missing person filed by the victim’s son.

As per SP Yemisi Opalola: “The complainant reported at Apomu Division on March 18, stating that on March 13, his mother, Aminat Usman, 45, left for Iyana Ajia-Ibadan, Oyo State to visit Onifade Oyekanmi. He pointed out that since her departure, her phones were off, her whereabouts unknown, and he had suspicions that Oyekanmi, an herbalist, was involved in her disappearance.”

“Onifade Oyekanmi was apprehended and the case was handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Osogbo, Osun, for a thorough investigation,” she added.

The confession of Onifade Oyekanmi led to the arrest of three accomplices, all of whom admitted to their roles in the heinous act of attempting to use the victim for a money-related ritual.

During the search of the suspects’ residences, three bottles containing dark substances believed to be burnt human parts, two machetes, a large black clay pot, and various black soaps were retrieved,” the police spokesperson stated.

Additionally, a female neighbor of one of the suspects, who aided in concealing a portion of the powdery substance, was detained but later released on administrative bail due to her infant child aged four months.
