Longstanding Rift Resolved as Wike and Magnus Abe Settle Differences

Addressing the rift within the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, former lawmaker Senator Magnus Abe has publicly announced a reconciliation with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, aiming to promote unity.

Previously at odds due to differing political stances, Abe expressed his dedication to ending the feud, stating, “I have made peace with the Honourable Minister of the FCT and former governor of Rivers State,” in a Friday Facebook post.

Highlighting the significance of unity, Abe mentioned accompanying Wike to Chief Tony Okocha’s thanksgiving ceremony as a clear demonstration of his commitment to resolving party conflicts.

Commending Wike’s approach to conflict resolution, Abe appreciated the minister’s sincerity and directness, foreseeing a consolidated team for the APC in Rivers State.

Abe expressed optimism for the party’s future through peaceful reunification and reintroduction, declaring, “The disagreements are in the past, and the potential for conflict has been eradicated.”

Acknowledging the journey towards unity may be gradual, Abe reassured that a united front would emerge, urging party members to prioritize economic issues for the time being.

In July 2022, Abe left the APC in Rivers State, yet officially rejoined the party in January 2024 after previously contesting the 2023 governorship election under the Social Democratic Party.

Despite switching to the SDP for the 2023 election, where he secured the party’s governorship ticket, Abe reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, stating, “My allegiance remains with the APC. Let’s unite and reap the benefits of collaboration.”

Looking ahead, Abe encouraged party loyalists to concentrate on economic matters for now, adding, “When the time is right, we will address pertinent issues. For now, let’s focus on economic prosperity. Blessings to all.”
