Sharing insights on potential exits from Liverpool alongside Jurgen Klopp, football transfer specialist Ben Jacobs discussed the futures of key players including Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Jacobs suggested that while Klopp’s departure from Anfield might raise uncertainties, the club is inclined to retain these players beyond the upcoming summer.
With contracts running until 2025, the trio is yet to commit to new deals as they await the arrival of a new manager at Liverpool, with Arne Slot reportedly set to take over from Klopp.
Touching on the situation, Jacobs indicated that Slot is interested in retaining the services of Salah, Van Dijk, and Alexander-Arnold, albeit acknowledging the potential for changes in the squad.
There have been discussions surrounding a possible sale of Salah to clubs in the Saudi Pro League as a means to generate funds for a squad revamp.
“Slot’s focus will extend to addressing Alexander-Arnold’s role within the team, and Liverpool is eager for him to extend his stay. Moreover, the decision on whether Van Dijk and Salah will remain with Klopp is pending,” Jacobs explained.
“The departure of Salah, especially if he moves to Saudi Arabia, could potentially provide Liverpool with substantial resources to bolster their squad during the forthcoming transfer window. However, there is a strong desire within the club’s hierarchy to retain Salah’s services.”
