Fani-Kayode warns Israel that Hamas may prolong war despite agreeing to peace deal

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister, has cautioned that the conflict between Israel and Hamas might persist even if the latter approves a peace initiative.

Should Israel neglect to release Palestinian hostages, Fani-Kayode predicts that Hamas will persist in the conflict.

He further emphasizes that the hostilities will endure if Israel continues to target Palestinians in Raffah for mass killings.

Sharing his views on X, the former Aviation Minister stated, “Hamas has declared their acceptance of the peace proposal, which is promising. The decision now lies with Israel.

“If Israel agrees, the hostages will be freed, leading to a ceasefire and an end to the war.

“However, if Israel declines, the hostages will face death, 1.7 million Palestinians in Raffah will be at risk of being massacred, Hamas will persist in their fight, and the conflict will persist. The decision rests with Bibi.”

Hamas’s leader, Ismail Haniyeh, informed mediators from Qatar and Egypt that the Palestinian militant group has endorsed their proposal for a Gaza truce following nearly seven months of conflict.

In an official statement posted on their website, Hamas revealed that Haniyeh had conversed with Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Egyptian Intelligence Minister, Abbas Kamel, informing them of the group’s acceptance of the ceasefire proposal.

A senior Hamas official clarified that the ceasefire has not yet taken effect since the Israeli authorities have not communicated their stance.
