FAAN halts the national aviation conference due to coronavirus

The national aviation conference, which was set to take place in Abuja in April 2020, has been suspended by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.

The decision to suspend the conference was communicated by Henrietta Yakubu (Mrs.), the General Manager of Corporate Affairs at FAAN, in a statement on Tuesday, March 17. The reason cited for the suspension is the recent declaration of coronavirus as a “pandemic” by the World Health Organization.

According to Yakubu, “This is due to the need to adhere to safety precautions in the face of the Coronavirus presently spreading across nations globally. The World Health Organization recently declared COVID-19 a global pandemic and advised that as much as possible, individuals and organizations should avoid clustered gatherings to prevent the spread of the virus.”

Yakubu also mentioned that a new date for the conference will be announced soon, and she expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the postponement.
