Ex-Oyo Governor, Olunloyo Refutes Death Rumors, Affirms “I Am Alive”

Dr. Omololu Olunloyo, a respected elder statesman and former leader of old Oyo State, has put an end to the circulating rumor of his passing, asserting that he is very much alive.

During a visit by a correspondent from NewsNow to his residence in Molete, Ibadan, the state capital, Olunloyo confirmed his wellbeing.

While certain news outlets, aside from NewsNow, had previously reported his demise, Olunloyo personally dismissed these claims.

Addressing the situation, Olunloyo stated, “I am still present among the living, not departed yet.”

Expressing his concerns over the rumor, he pondered on the certainty of mortality, remarking, “None can evade death forever. Those spreading news of demise and the purportedly deceased person will all meet their end someday.

“I have been fortunate. My father’s life ended at 42, my mother’s at 102. I am now 89, surpassing the anticipated lifespan.”

The elder statesman also recounted the flurry of death reports that surfaced on various news platforms on June 7, 2022.

He highlighted how speculations suggested he had passed on at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

Subsequently, his family released a statement clarifying that he was not deceased but dealing with age-related health issues, urging Nigerians to include him in their prayers for recovery.
