Enugu State Governor Inaugurates Newly Constituted State Electoral Commission

On Friday, Governor Peter Mbah officially launched the newly constituted Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC).

During the inauguration ceremony held at the Government House in Enugu, Governor Mbah commended the commission’s new board for their high qualifications and impeccable character, citing their swift confirmation by the Enugu State House of Assembly.

The Governor emphasized that the inauguration was in line with Section 4(1) of the ENSIEC Law, and he charged the commissioners with the responsibility of ensuring free, fair, and credible elections.

He underscored the vital role of the commissioners in overseeing the local government council elections, a critical aspect of the government structure. Governor Mbah urged the electoral body to uphold fairness and adherence to election procedures without bias.

Chairman of the new ENSIEC leadership, Prof. Christian Ngwu, expressed gratitude on behalf of the commission for the Governor’s trust in appointing them to serve the people of Enugu State. Ngwu pledged to enhance ENSIEC’s operations and ensure equal opportunities for all political parties.

“Our goal is to revamp and energize ENSIEC, creating a level playing field for every political party. Enugu State residents can rest assured that we will elevate ENSIEC’s standards and fulfill their expectations,” Ngwu affirmed.

The newly constituted ENSIEC includes Solomon Udeh, Chinenyenwa Ogbu, George Ani, Arthur Ede, Paully Eze, and Emeka Ukwuaba as members, with Ifesinachi Umeobika serving as the Commission Secretary.
