Electricity Distribution in Nigeria – Insights from Davido

In a recent statement, Davido, the renowned singer, boldly claimed that his family plays a crucial role in distributing electricity across a significant part of Nigeria.

He mentioned that his family possesses four power plants that make a substantial contribution to Nigeria’s energy requirements. Davido shared these details during an appearance on the American podcast, ‘Business Untitled,’ where he discussed his family’s business ventures and personal investments.

During the podcast, Davido mentioned, “I once delved into cryptocurrency due to its popularity in Nigeria. Additionally, my family and I own four valuable power plants that distribute energy to a large portion of Nigeria.

He also mentioned, “My wife is passionate about culinary arts, and we are planning to establish a restaurant for her. However, my primary focus remains on my music career, which I deeply cherish.”

While it is true that Davido’s family has significant investments in the energy sector, some may question his assertion regarding their role in meeting Nigeria’s energy demands. This is because a majority of the major thermal and hydropower plants in the country are government-owned.
