Election Results: Niger NUJ Correspondents Chapel Welcomes New Executives

Priscilla Dennis from NewsNow has been elected as the Treasurer of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Niger State chapter.

The new executives ran unopposed during their inauguration ceremony at the Union’s office located behind the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Minna.

The elected officials include Yakubu Mustaph Bina from People’s Daily, reelected as Chairman for a second term, Nura Mohammed from Voice of Nigeria (VON) as the Vice Chairman. Daniel Okpole Atori from New Telegraph also secured a second term as the Secretary, while Akote Abubakar from Daily Trust was chosen as Assistant Secretary.

Other elected executives are Priscilla Dennis from Daily Post as the Treasurer, Rita Iliya from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as the Financial Secretary, and Nasiru Mustaph Basari from Voice of America (VOA) as the Auditor.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman Yakubu Mustapha Bina promised to prioritize unity, stability, and transparency in the Union’s operations. He also emphasized the importance of professionalism and ethical behavior among members.

During the event, the state Chairman, Comrade Abu Nmodu, urged the new executives to collaborate peacefully and promote inclusivity among members for the advancement of the Chapel.

Comrade Nmodu advised, “Now that the elections are concluded, set aside any differences and focus on fostering unity within your members. Avoid distractions and encourage teamwork with your fellow executives. Provide opportunities for everyone, including your members, to thrive.”
