Edo PDP gubernatorial candidate, Asue Ighodalo denies involvement in Shaibu’s impeachment

In response to allegations linking him to the impeachment of former Edo State deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, Asue Ighodalo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, clarified that he had no role in the process.

Through a statement from his Media Office, Ighodalo affirmed that he neither initiated nor financially supported Shaibu’s impeachment.

Shaibu was recently impeached by the Edo State House of Assembly following clashes with Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Contrary to Shaibu’s claims implicating Ighodalo in the impeachment, the statement from Ighodalo’s Media Office emphasized his non-involvement in the publicized removal of Shaibu from office.

The statement addressed the spurious allegations made by Shaibu, asserting, “It is necessary to clarify unequivocally that Mr. Asue Ighodalo played no part in any aspect of the process that led to Mr. Shaibu’s impeachment by the Edo State House of Assembly.”

“These unfounded accusations are an attempt to damage his reputation unfairly and divert attention from the core issues,” it added.

Ighodalo’s Media Office urged the public and media to approach these untrue statements with due skepticism, emphasizing Ighodalo’s commitment to maintaining a campaign focused on pertinent issues without distractions.
